'Evergreen', Will Young, is the biggest selling single of the century in the United Kingdom

Evergreen, Westlife released a cover of Will Young after winning the reality show Pop Idol in 2002, remains the biggest selling single of the twenty-first century in the UK.

The dual launch, which also featured the song Anything Is Possible, hit stores in February of that year and had 1.8 million copies sold in the country, reveals the Official Charts Company, responsible for the rankings of the British music industry.

In reaction to the news, a humorous Young tweeted: "Ten years ago I won the Pop Idol. Since then, did not realize the dream of having a full line of Tupperware. Life can be cruel ..."

The singer managed to win the battle against hit Someone Like You, released in 2011 by Adele. The romantic track reached the second place with a mark of 1,348,000 copies. Gareth Gates, runner-up season in which he participated Young, is only six thousand units behind Adele with Unchained Melody.

Like Jagger Moves (feat. Christina Aguilera), a partnership of Maroon 5 with Christina Aguilera, occupies the sixth position, while Fri On Fire, Kings Of Leon and Poker Face, Lady Gaga, occupying the ninth and 14th places respectively.
